CPC Education Team is here to equip families as they do the work of Christian Education. The work our team does is in compliment to the foundational work that God has given each family (and our covenant family) to do in teaching the gospel to the next generation so that they are grounded in the Covenant of Grace and grow with a Biblical world view, ready to live out the Covenant in a community of believers. We are here to support and equip our church families and cannot do this work apart from them.
"The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever, the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they thatn gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of th honeycomb. Moreover, by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward." Psalm 19: 7-11
"Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things, and give me life in your ways." Psalm 119:37
The Education Team is working to encourage and equip all of our CPC family as we seek to grow in our knowledge of God and a love for his word. This work is taking place in three ways:
Equipping our body to meditate on and memorize God's word. See Scripture Memory resources for help and more information about how you can make this a regular habit.
Encouraging our body through covenantal "Grow Teams" to pray for, encourage, and celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives as we are learning God's Word.
Celebrations! In addition to celebrating with your grow team members, we invite our youngest CPCers (grades 1-2 and 3-5) to sign up for our "Squires in Training" and "Knights in Training" incentives programs. See the table in the Sunday School hallway under the Grow Team board for more information. We are also developing some incentives for our youth through the work of our AIM team leaders.
Our Children’s Sunday School classes use the GCP curriculum for preschool-middle school level classes.
Check out the scope and sequence below:
This curriculum approaches discipleship by using all of scripture to teach the character of God and his covenant of Grace, the character of Jesus, the Mediator of the covenant, and teaches our obedience as a privilege of living in a covenantal relationship with God.
Children’s Church is using curriculum based on The Jesus Storybook Bible.
High School Students study in-depth biblical themes and topics with an emphasis on apologetics and my response – why can I (and how can I explain to others) believe the truths of God’s Word? How can I best put these truths into practice?. Examples of studies used in the past include the "So What?" Series.
